ABOUT MELTON WORKROOM

Melton Workroom is a textile design studio located in downtown Los Angeles, specializing in crafting customized home décor products and window coverings. While we primarily work with 100% linen fabrics and selected materials for roller shades, no project is too small, as our goal is to find design solutions that meet our clients' needs. Our work can be found in homes and institutions across the United States, including a lighthouse in Maine, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and neighboring Canada. We are dedicated to helping our clients restore bungalows, Craftsman, and foursquare homes with textile and artwork solutions described as 'beautiful, functional, and elegant' in design. We offer hundreds of design solutions with our stencil and appliqué artwork, inspired by early 20th-century masters, which translate well across various styles.

We take pleasure in collaborating with clients to create custom, high-quality goods that enhance the beauty of their homes and their appreciation for Craftsman design. Whether you're seeking guidance or have conducted thorough research, we are here to provide a beautiful finish for your home. And if you enjoy DIY projects, we offer DIY kits of selected pillows and table runners for your enjoyment.

About Janice Melton

Janice Melton is a designer and artist born and raised in Los Angeles, California. As a young child, she was introduced to the creative arts at a weekend art program at the University of Southern California. However, it was her time in Sao Vicente, Brazil, as a high school exchange student where she discovered her love for all things design. During this time, she had the fortune of meeting and learning from Brazilian architects, landscape architects, and artists. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley, she continued her studies at the New School in New York, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and the architecture and interior design program at UCLA.

After stepping away from a long career in the film and television industry, she started a design studio by taking over the business of retiring Ann Wallace for Prairie Textiles in 2016. This endeavor has been an amazing experience from day one and continues to offer her opportunities to create custom items for clients who appreciate her designs and custom work. She is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (Allied ASID).
